Semana Santa is an important religious celebration in Andalusia, Spain. It commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and involves a series of processions and rituals in which religious brotherhoods and confraternities participate.<\/p>

During the Holy Week the streets are filled with processions in Andalusia, in which the brotherhoods carry religious images. The processions take place in a solemn and penitential atmosphere, accompanied by religious music.<\/p>

For Andalusians, the Holy Week is an important occasion to show their devotion and religious faith, and many people actively participate in the processions and religious activities. – Wednesday; Holy Wednesday is synonymous with tradition. In fact, some of the traditions that have made Malaga’s Holy Week famous come together on this day. On this day the oldest brotherhood in the city, La Sangre, and the latest to join; the Hermandad de la Mediadora de la Salvaci\u00f3n, will take to the streets.<\/p>

– Thursday; There are several museums to visit during the week. In the morning you can visit, for example, the Automobile Museum, in the building of the Antigua Tabacalera. This museum houses a collection of hundreds of cars from all eras, which the guide will talk to you about, show you how they work or even let you ride in them. The museum also contains a collection of Haute Couture fashion that will complement your visit. I highly recommend it. Friday; If you haven’t already done so, you will have to try the “cascar\u00fao”. We are talking about the lemons that are sold in street stalls, with a very thick peel, which after being peeled leaves the white part visible next to the pulp. Now all you have to do is add a little salt and enjoy!<\/p>

– Saturday; You can’t leave Malaga without seeing the Gibralfaro Castle, climbing the stairs to the viewpoint and taking a picture of the harbour and the city of Malaga. Afterwards you can stroll along the Paseo de Reding and see its marvellous malls, for example the Gran Hotel Miramar (recently refurbished, and inaugurated in 1926 by Alfonso XIII as the Hotel Pr\u00edncipe de Asturias) and return along the Paseo Mar\u00edtimo de la Playa de la Malagueta.
