II Open Ping Golf Tour
On Saturday, July 23, one of the best golf tournaments of this summer was played at one of the most attractive courses on the Costa del Sol, Chaparral Golf, located in Mijas Costa.
The tournament was organized by Chaparral Golf Club in collaboration with the team of the prestigious golf brand Ping, and was a resounding success with the participation of local and international players from the Costa del Sol.
It was a spectacular day of golf that did not lack any detail. A wonderful moment of golf accompanied by the best summer weather, hardly any wind and blue sky. This, coupled with the excellent playing conditions on the course, provided players with another fantastic event at Chaparral!
In order for the players to start the Tournament with strength, the Club had prepared a courtesy desk with fruits and energy bars for all the players, which was received after collecting their scorecards. After this, the players were escorted to the course to start the game with a shotgun start at 9 in the morning. The II Open Ping Golf Tour was played in Individual Stableford mode, divided into two categories by handicap.
The good results obtained demonstrated the high level of play developed by all the players throughout the day. In addition, all participants were able to enjoy a break at the Lounge Bar on the 9th hole, with Iberian ham, a variety of cheeses and refreshing Manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The players also faced an extra challenge on the course, with 2 special prizes; Nearest to the Pin at the 18th hole and the Longest Drive in the men’s and women’s category at the 13th hole. Both holes are some of the best in Chaparral with the 13th hole featuring a generous fairway and Mijas in the background and the 18th hole with the Club House and the Chaparral flower bedlLogo framing the challenge.
Tournament winners, II Open Ping Golf Tour
The first five prizes in the first Handicap category went to José Antonio Benavides López with 42 points in first place, Jaime Sepúlveda Giménez in second place with 38 points, José Rueda Gómez in third place with 36 points, Bruce Harley in fourth place with 36 and finally in fifth place Salvador Parra Morilla with 35 points.
In the second category, the winners of the first five prizes went to: Raúl Lozada with 43 points in first place, Francisco Bermúdez Cabello in second place with 42 points, Mateo Mas Garau in third place with 42 points, and Manuel Reina Millán in fourth place. with 42 points, and in fifth place Manuel Cáceres Castro with 41 points.
The most important prize of the tournament; the Scratch winner, went to one of Chaparral Golf Club’s lowest hcp members, David Garrido, with a great result of 41 points and 69 fantastic shots.
In addition to the prizes distributed among all the winners, a great draw was held among all the participants, which allowed the lucky winners to receive a nice gift from the PING brand.
The players who showed most strength from Tee, winning the special prizes for the Longest Drive on Hole 13 were;

Ladies Category – Carmen Cañete
The special prize for the Nearest to the Pin, mixed category on hole 18 went to Manuel Cáceres.
