One more year, El Chaparral Golf Club has hosted the traditional tournament of the City of Fuengirola, commemorating the sixth edition
Nearly a hundred players gathered in the beautiful Mijas tour, where expectations were very high, as many players had good chances of becoming the trophy winner.
The splendid weather and not a breath of wind all morning, something quite unusual in this course, helped the participants, who also enjoyed a field in excellent state. Thus, the conditions were perfect to demonstrate all the potential and desire to win that everyone had.
As expected, the final classification in the first category was tight. The winner, Pepe Diaz, with par for the course and 36 points, was only two points ahead of Rafael Gambero, his nearest rival. Rafael was followed by the players Gianni Albertazzi, Jose Manuel Reina, Ignacio Mugaburu and Rafael Manjón who tied on points.
In the second category Lawrenz Karin stood in first place with 38 points, followed by Fco. Javier Vazquez, who even though scoring the same points, used a higher handicap.
Remarkably, the top nine competitors were only separated by three points, which shows the rivalry between the players to qualify as high as possible in the table.
Finn Oskari Hati, a regular at the club and familiar with the course, was the winner of the Scratch category with 31 points. After completion of the tournament, all participants gathered in the Club House for lunch and enjoyed the awards ceremony and the usual raffle.
