III Open Ping Golf Tour

Chaparral Golf Club is glad to have experienced a great day of golf accompanied by perfect summer weather. After receiving the welcome packs at the check-in in the Club House, undoubtedly one of the best ways to kick off a golf tournament, all the players were accompanied to the course to start their rounds. The III Open Ping Golf Tour was played under the Individual Stableford format, divided into two handicap categories, with prizes for the top 5 players in each category.

 

The impressive results obtained showcased the high level of play demonstrated by all the players throughout the day. Moreover, all participants had the opportunity to enjoy excellent service during their round, including a stop at the Lounge Bar on the 9th hole, where they indulged in the finest Iberian ham, a wide variety of cheeses, and a refreshing glass of Manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

 

As an additional challenge during the tournament, all players enjoyed the traditional special prizes along the course. These included prizes for the longest drive on hole 13 in both men’s and women’s categories, another special prize for the nearest to the pin on hole 14 to reward the most accurate player, and lastly, a special prize for the nearest to the pin in mixed category on hole 18. The player achieving the nearest to the pin position on this hole received a weekly pass to enjoy the most important women’s golf competition in the world, the Solheim Cup

Desde el club, estamos muy contentos ya que el pasado sábado fue una maravillosa jornada de golf acompañada de un espléndido día soleado. Todos los jugadores tras recoger su welcome pack al realizar el check – in en nuestra casa club, sin duda, una de las mejores formas de comenzar con fuerzas un torneo de golf. Tras esta toma de contacto, los jugadores se dirigieron al campo para comenzar sus respectivas partidas. El III Open Ping Golf Tour, se jugó bajo la modalidad Individual Stableford, dividido en dos categorías por hándicap  con premios a los 5 mejores clasificados de cada categoría.

Los buenos resultados obtenidos, mostraron el gran nivel de juego desarrollado por parte de todos los jugadores a lo largo del día. Además, todos los participantes pudieron disfrutar de un gran servicio a lo largo de su recorrido, gracias a la parada en el Lounge Bar del hoyo 9, donde se degustó el mejor jamón ibérico, de una gran variedad de quesos y de una refrescante manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Como reto adicional al torneo, a lo largo del recorrido, todos los jugadores disfrutaron de los tradicionales premios especiales correspondientes, al drive más largo en la categoría de caballeros y damas en el hoyo 13, otro premio especial a la bola más cercana a bandera en el hoyo 14 para premiar a los jugadores más precisos, y por último, otro premio especial a la Bola más cercana a bandera en categoría mixta en el hoyo 18 con un maravillo premio consistente en un pase semanal para disfrutar de la competición femenina más importante del mundo, la Solheim Cup.

Winners of the III Open Ping Golf Tour:

In the first Handicap category, the top five prizes went to Francisco Barranquero Osorio in first place with 42 points, Francisco Gil García in second place with 40 points, Daniel Aranda Perez in third place with 39 points, Jerry Halford in fourth place with 38 points, and finally, Roger Turner in fifth place with 38 points.

In the second category, the winners of the top five prizes were Pedro Luis Gómez in first place with 40 points, David Brown in second place with 39 points, Andrés Morales Sánchez in third place with 39 points, Marious Zelba in fourth place with 38 points, and Sergio Loaiza Benítez in fifth place with 38 points.

The most prestigious prize of the tournament, corresponding to the Scratch category, was awarded to Salvador González Martín, who secured victory with 35 points and a fantastic 73 shots.

The players who demonstrated the most power from the tee and won the special prizes for the longest drive on Hole 13 were:

Women’s Category: Inés Hermano

The second special prize, for the nearest to the pin on Hole 14, was awarded to Víctor Zaldívar Leiva.

And the icing on the cake, the winner of the special prize for the closest to the pin on the emblematic par 3 Hole 18, winning a weekly pass to the Solheim Cup, also went to Víctor Zaldívar Leiva.

 

In addition to the prizes awarded to the best classified, a grand raffle was held among all the participants, featuring sports equipment, courtesy of the brand PING and green fees for the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol, allowing the lucky winners to take home delightful gifts.
