Ladies Golf Tour Challenge
Five different Golf Clubs together with “Destination Costa del Sol” have created the amateur circuit ‘Ladies Tour Challenge’ to support and promote women’s golf.
Yesterday, the Real Club de Guadalhorce hosted the presentation of the new golf circuit ‘Amateur Ladies Tour Challenge Costa del Sol’, a new exclusive women’s tournament, at the initiative of five golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Real Club Guadalhorce, Santa Clara Club, Chaparral Golf, El Paraíso Golf and La Cañada Golf Club, together with the “patrocinio principal de Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol”, a public entity of the Diputación de Málaga; and the Safamotor Group.
In the magnificent clubhouse of the Real Club Guadalhorce, the presentation of the tournament was chaired by the executive of Destino Costa del Sol, Begoña Salas, and representatives of the five clubs that created the tournament: Carlos Santos, director of Santa Clara; Teresa Torrejón, president of the Real Club Guadalhorce competition committee; Pedro Batista, director of the Real Club Guadalhorce; David Ramos, director of El Paraíso; Domingo Gavira, director of Chaparral; and Ignacio Sánchez, director of La Cañada.
As Begoña Salas, from Destino Costa del Sol, pointed out in the presentation, the Ladies Tour Challenge is a circuit in pairs aimed at all players over 18 years of age, “which has been created with the aim of supporting and promoting women’s golf in a amateur level on the Costa del Sol and throughout our region, and at the same time paying a tribute to the professional golf carrying the Solheim Cup 2023 as its flag, as well as the Race to the Costa del Sol, which will soon be held in our province ”
The tournament director, Ignacio Sánchez, from the La Cañada Golf Club, added “coinciding with the prologue of the International Day of the Female Golfer, tomorrow June 1, the birth of the ‘Ladies Tour Challenge’ is the best tribute and diffusion of the women’s golf, every day more on the rise, so the circuit’s grand final will take place the week before the Women’s Spanish Open ”.
The dates and courses are as follows: Real Club Guadalhorce: June 26; Santa Clara: July 31; Chaparral: August 28; El Paraíso Golf: September 26; La Cañada: October 23; and the Grand Final: November 20.
The competition will be played on five courses with a mixed category and a maximum handicap of 30.4. It is a Fourball Bestball Stableford modality in which the four best cards of the pair will score, so the worst score can be discarded. Although you can also play on each course without having to play the entire circuit.
In each club the prizes will be for the three best couples, along with other special prizes, thanks to the sponsorship of the Safamotor Group, such as “nearest to the pin”, “longest drive” and a special invitation to the Grand Final for the winners.
Each test will have a picnic and the prize giving ceremonies in the Clubs will be carried out in compliance with all sanitary measures in place at the time of the test.
The Ranking adds the 4 best results of the five competitions played, so the worst result can be ruled out.
The Final will be played on a course and a date yet to be determined. The winning couple of each course, together with the 10 best-ranked couples in the absolute ranking, will be invited to participate in the grand final.
The winning couple of the Grand Final will receive a trophy and commemorative material of the tournament; a weekend at a Hotel on the Costa del Sol, two green fees on two courses on the Costa del Sol; invitation for next year’s circuit; and invitation to play the Pro-Am of the Women’s Spanish Open and entrance tickets for the Solheim Cup 2023.
The entries must be done to each club where the competition is played, and the registration fee for each couple will be set by and paid directly to each club.
The maximum number of players on each course is 60 pairs.
All couples may have a substitute for one of the players of the couple and the identity of the substitute for each couple must be communicated in writing to the Organization.
