Nordic Golfers.com Challenge II
On Saturday, December 11, one of the most fun and vibrant golf tournaments on the Costa del Sol was played at Chaparral Golf Club.
The Nordic Golfers.com Challenge II is the second edition of this great event, and it is the last major tournament of the year before Christmas. The tournament, co-organized with the Danish tour operator “Nordic Golfers”, was a resounding success in terms of number of players and everyone enjoyed a full day that included Welcome pack & Coffee, VIP tents on the course with snacks and challenges, (such as “ Beat the Nordic Golfer’s Pro ”on hole 2) and a generous 2-course menu and wine at the Clubhouse Restaurant. The day was a bit windy but as always the game was played under the Andalusian sun and an average temperature of 20 degrees.
From the Club, we are very happy to have worked hand in hand with the Nordic Golfers team and to be able to satisfy the needs and expectations of all the players on such an important date for both of us.
The Nordic Golfers.com Challenge II Tournament was played in the Individual Stableford modality, divided into two men’s categories and one women’s category, to support and promote women’s golf on the Costa del Sol. The good scores obtained by the winners of each category evidenced the high level of play developed by all players.
One of the most special features of this event were the VIP tents on three holes of the course, where all participants were able to enjoy snacks, drinks and fun challenges, which enlivened the day for both the players and the sponsors.
In addition, the tournament featured six special prizes on the course; mixed ”Nearest to the pin” and ”Longest Drive” for men and women. No less than 5 special prizes for the Nearest to the pin on our par 3´s, while the longest drive in both categories was played on the hole 6, a par 5 with a generous fairway and where many of the players had the opportunity to score, Eagle being able to reach the green in two shots most of the time.

The top three classified in the first handicap category went to Lars Damgaard
with points 39 in first place, Kent Thomsen in second place with points 39, in third place Iván Sanz Ballesteros with points 37.
In the second category, the winners of the first three prizes were: Jim Eide with points 42 in first place, Ian Mcgregor in second place with points 37 and in third place Javier Bermúdez Cabello with points 37
The first three prizes in the ladies category went to Michaela Janaskova with points 36 in first place, Hilde Van Landschoot in second place with points 35, in third place Leila Mendolin with points 34.
Players with the strongest drive on hole 6 and winners of the special prize of the ”Longest Drive” prizes:
- Gentlemen Category, John Scase
- Ladies Category, Leila Mendolin
The most accurate players from tee to green and winners of the ”Nearest to the Pin” prizes;

- Hole 16: Yury Buchnev
- Hole 18: Jim Eide
In addition to the prizes for the best classified, the organizers had prepared a big raffle of gifts for the participants at the end of the prize giving ceremony.
