Open de España Golf Tournament 2019
In Chaparral Golf Club this weekend, we´ll be following the game in the Club de Campo Villa in Madrid where the Open de España 2019 is being celebrated, one of the oldest tournaments in the world, and the third oldest open in Europe after the British Open and the Open de France.
It´s a men’s golf tournament that has been played in Spain since 1912 and is part of the PGA European Tour. Among the champions we may find Seve Ballesteros, Arnold Palmer, Sergio García, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo and Jon Rahm, defending champion of the title.
This year the tournament is celebrated in the Villa de Madrid Country Club between October 3 and 6 under the name of Mutuactivos Open España, since Mutua Madrileña Group is the main sponsor this year. Jon Rahm, last year’s winner will defend his title, having Sergio García, Olazábal, Jiménez or Cabrera Bello, among his main rivals.
The competition is played in Stroke Play. It´s a 72 hole competition played over four days. It´s ruled by the norms of the ”Royal Spanish Golf Federation” and of the committee in charge of the organization.
In the restaurant Tree Tops in Chaparral Golf Club, you may follow the tournament during the 4 days. The restaurant will be open from 8 am to 10 pm, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
