The Fair of Malaga 2019
After the days of fair in La Cala de Mijas, it´s time for the big summer event on Costa del Sol, the Fair of Malaga.
Once again, the excellent location of our golf course, in the heart of Costa del Sol, gives you the opportunity to play golf in the morning and take part of the festivities in the evening!!
The capital of the region, Malaga, is located just 35 km from Chaparral Golf Club. During the day, the celebrations take place in the historic centre of Malaga with a variety of food, drinks and people dancing and singing on the streets. In the afternoon and at night the activities take place on the fair ground, Cortijo de Torres, close to the congress hall. Children, adults and teenagers enjoy the hundreds of booths, attractions and concerts organized by the city hall.
History.
The summer festivities in Malaga first started as a commemoration of Malaga´s incorporation to the Crown of Castile by the Catholic Monarchs, who entered the city on August 19th, 1487. The year 1887, in the commemoration of the IV Centenary of the entry of the Catholic Monarchs, the festivities emerge in all their splendour.
The August Fair in Malaga is today considered as the big Summer Festival, with an welcoming, cosmopolitan and international atmosphere, reflecting the character of the capital itself, one of the most important tourist cities in Europe.
The Malaga City Council has scheduled more than 300 free shows during the nine days of fair, August 15-24.
This year the program of the Municipal Auditorium is headed by Andy y Lucas, Zenet, Rosario Flores, Camela o David de María, while the “night of the fires” (Wednesday, August 14) will be starred by the singer Huecco, who will perform on the beach of La Malagueta after the proclamation of the actor Adelfa Calvo and the traditional pyrotechnic show.
The squares of the Constitution, Merced, Mitjana, Las Flores, del Obispo and San Pedro Alcántara will have live music during the fair, adding to the program more than one hundred performances by local artists of different musical styles. In addition, just like last year, the bars of the centre are also allowed to offer musical shows within their establishments at the same time.
