El Chaparral Golf Club recently held the traditional Captains’ Day 2016 where Nick Cripps celebrated their year with the full support of all the members and visitors with a full house of total 104 players.
The captain’s had done and amazing job in organising competitors from near and far, including many club captains on the Costa, visitors from UK and all members – them preparing team sheets, buggy list, scorecards, prize lists as well as snack packs for the buggies and a great set up of prizes which were displayed on the terrace for the winners of the day.
With magnificent weather although with a little fresh breeze, all participants went out at 09.00 on a shot gun start, the format of play was a team event and stableford.
This year nearly everybody went home with a prize, best individual score, 1st, 2nd 3rd Men and Ladies, best team; as well as nearest the pin in all par 3’s, which were sponsored by best restaurants in Mijas, plus straightest drive on hole 7 sponsored by member Ambrose Turnbull with 100€ voucher and best dressed of the day.
The course was in excellent conditions and very good scores showed at the end of the day, with winners decided after a very tight finish.
Once the competition ended, the participants enjoyed a wonderful meal and fellowship awards on the terrace of the restaurant, where Captain’s Nick was the ringmasters.
