José María Gil wins the XI Anniversary Tournament El Chaparral
More than 100 players gathered at El Chaparral Golf Club, Costa del Sol to enjoy the tournament star of the Club’s calendar: The XI Anniversary El Chaparral Tournament. The tournament was played in the 18 holes in individual stableford mode, beginning at 9.00 p.m., and given the large number of players, several holes had to be played twice. On a day where the heat was a key player, all participants had to remain patient and calm to be able to carry on with the competition. Nevertheless, on the way out, each player received a welcome bag of fruit and drinks to replenish for the road.
The course was in perfect condition despite the high temperatures we are experiencing this summer. As for the competition itself, the absolute winner was José María Gil with 35 points, followed with only one point by Salvador Gómez, and with two more by Antonio Cecilla, proving the equality that existed among the participants. In the first category gentlemen, the winner was Salvador Gomez with 45 points, and Juan Rascado in second place with 38 points, tying with Nicolas Luis Senar and Francisco López.
The second category was tighter, as the first position went to both, Adrián Rebollo and Tomas Eklund, with 37 points, along with a triple tie for third place between Guillermo del Grosso, Julio Fernández and Mariano Pérez.
In the ladies category, the first position went to Mercedes Espiñeira with 36 points, who gave no option to their opponents. Patricia Zimmermann with 31 points came in second position, leaving the third place to Maria de Noguero, with 28.
After food was served in the restaurant of the El Chaparral clubhouse, the event proceeded to the awards ceremony, led by its Managing Director Domingo Gavira and Sales Manager Antonio Rodríguez.
To close out the act, the President and owner of El Chaparral Golf Antonio Rubio thanked everyone present for their affection and loyalty for the club, encouraging them to continue enjoying the Club.
The next tournament will be held on August 26th – The Treetops Restaurant Trophy.
