A new era has begun for Chaparral Golf Club, one of the most attractive courses on the Costa del Sol. The course is located in the municipality of Mijas, in the middle of a lush pine forest and with the Mediterranean Sea as a stunning backdrop.
The history of the Club dates back to 1991, when the first sketches of the golf course were launched, destined to change the concept of quality within the variety of courses on the Costa del Sol. A Spanish-British consortium commissioned the design of the course to the renowned Malaga golf course architect Pepe Gancedo, who put all his know-how into the design of Chaparral’s varied and attractive 18 holes.
In 2003, the Malaga businessman Antonio Rubio acquired the golf course and decided to once again count on Gancedo for its redesign. The Club reopened its doors on 28th February 2006, on the feast of the “Day of Andalusia”.
The years have passed and Chaparral Golf Club has exceeded its own expectations, creating an internationally renowned golf product, located in a privileged enclave between Malaga and Marbella, designed for those who are committed to quality of life.
The club has exceptional facilities and practice areas. The clubhouse, with its characteristic Andalusian architecture, is a beautiful whitewashed country house with wooden ceilings and balustrades. In addition, the large terrace has wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding area. The practice area has a putting green and a practice area of 1,000 square metres.
A new golf lifestyle
Chaparral Golf Club launches its new Playing Right product based on three fundamental pillars; exclusivity, conviviality and familiarity. “Being a member of Chaparral,” says Chaparral’s CEO Domingo Gavira, “will become the closest thing to feeling at home”.

Chaparral Golf Membership
Together with the continuous improvements of the course and the rest of the facilities, Chaparral Golf Club is set to become one of the most select clubs in the Mijas area.
The launch of the new Playing Rights for 5 or 10 years, offering a limited number of 150 member units, is a great opportunity to be part of a great social club. This is a long term commitment of the club to its members and of the members to their club.
The change in the club’s philosophy is significant: from being a pay & play course to a members’ club with mixed operations, with tee times booked for members every day, and welcoming visiting players with the same quality of service as always.
“There will even be the option to try out the social club atmosphere to decide whether to invest in the purchase of the Playing Right,” says Gavira, “and after a trial period you can complete the purchase of the right and secure the membership.”
Members will enjoy great benefits and a great calendar of social activities: they will have an interesting calendar of competitions, complete uniforms (including a personalised golf bag) that the club gives to each new member. In addition, the club will be structured by two committees representing the interests of all members. The members will have access to the use of an app to keep up to date with club news and manage their own bookings, among other interesting features, as well as having all the services and rentals included.
