One of the most important holidays of the year is just around the corner, Christmas! Shopping malls, streets and houses are lit up and adorned with Christmas trees and nativity scenes. Some places have become a great tourist destination for its Christmas lights and markets, as for example Vigo, Madrid and Málaga that have become favorite destinations for national and international tourists who decide to travel at this time of year.

It is no longer necessary to travel to the northern or central European countries to enjoy the classic Christmas markets, since it has become a tradition in Spain as well to celebrate these types of markets. A relatively new tradition that has taken root over time and spread to the different towns of the country, reaching an increase in visits and popularity every year.

On Plaza Mayor, the main square in Madrid, capital of Spain, one of the biggest Christmas markets in the country is organized, with more than 100 booths dedicated to the sale of traditional products of this period, the most popular being the nativity scenes, toys and funny items. The market in Plaza Mayor will be open to all audiences from November 26 to December 31. Moreover, the main cultural monuments of the city will be illuminated on these dates, becoming some of the most photographed places during Christmas.

The most illuminated city for Christmas in Galicia is Vigo, which will have more than 350 illuminated streets and 4 Christmas symbols that are preapred every year; the gigantic Christmas tree, the gift box, the giant Christmas ball and the snowman. In addition, the city of Vigo will have a great Christmas program to enjoy with the family; Christmas markets, a giant Ferris wheel and other attractions.

In the capital of the sunny Andalusia, Málaga has become the most famous city in the region at Christmas thanks to its fantastic light show on Calle Larios and its Christmas market. While the lightning has been a Christmas benchmark in Málaga for two decades the Christmas Market add a true Christmas spirit for all its visitors during these special holidays. A visit is a perfect plan for the sunset, experiencing the Christmas lightning being turned on. The market has several dozen of booths where you can find crafts, books, food and, of course, Christmas items.

Málaga has as well set up a booth for the Three Wise Men (Los Reyes Magos) in which the little ones can deposit the letter with their wishes list for January 6. The Three Wise Men is an important tradition in Spain and they bring presents to the children on the morning of January 6. During January 5, starting in the evening, the Three Wise men parades are organised all over Spain whre sweets and present are handed out to the public from the carriages.
